It’s exactly the way you think. I am that old. Lazy. But, I’m doing my best to change. Not the age though. I’m on a journey, a path of enlightenment. And, I do see the light ahead and, I’m inspired.
I used to be in great shape. Great might be exagerating a bit. But, I’m using the word great compared to the shape I’m currently in. You shouldn’t picture me as a young super athlete. It was nothing like that. Well, let’s just leave it up to your imagination. I was GREAT.
For years, I couldn’t find the willpower to exercise. I have become brilliant, world class, at finding excuses. Everything is an excuse not to exercise. A small glimpse at the weather outside. A single thought on something I need to get done first. Listening for the door bell. Did I hear someone – or was it my phone? It’s not about not finding the time.
That’s when I stopped. Focused on my productivity system, and did what I should have done a long time ago.
I am now using a system that works. I am doing one small thing first. I just open the door and walk outside. So walking has become my thing. I do it for 1 hour each day. That’s it. It works. But, it all starts with opening the door and doing just one step, and then the next.
I still imagine myself running. But, the last time I tried running for 30 minutes I had a hard time getting out of bed the next day. I’ll stick with what works for now. One step at a time.
