Why I am not using Tweet My Blog Anymore

I’ve been using Tweet My Blog for a while. At first, I thought it was a brilliant service, but I am not so sure anymore.

Let me start by telling you what Tweet My Blog is.

It’s a service where you’ll automatically tweet your blog posts (update your latest blog post at twitter). That’s great, but several other services are doing the same, like TwitterFeed. But Tweet My Blog is different though, when people click on the link to your blog post (from Twitter), they’ll visit your blog post with a stripe ad at the top.

The stripe ad is a way to make money from Tweet My Blog. When people click on the ad, they can sign up for Tweet My Blog and be part of your downline. Now, whenever they buy products from the guys behind the service, you’ll be earning commission.

That’s ok. Some might even say that it sounds awesome.

The problem with Tweet My Blog is that it changes the focus, from my blog to another service (the Tweet My Blog service). To me, the important part should be my blog, and another service (represented by the stripe ad) becomes nothing more than a distraction.

Visitors might be looking at the ad, and either think of my blog as less interesting, because of the advertisement, or they’ll click the advertisement and leave my blog. They’ll forget about my blog, because they are now focusing on what Tweet My Blog is all about.

I probably shouldn’t say that Tweet My Blog was competing with my blog, but to me, it’s all about keeping visitors interested and getting their attention. With Tweet My Blog, it seems that my visitors (from Twitter) lost interest in the content I had to offer, and their attention was suddenly somewhere other than where I wanted it to be.

Even though Tweet My Blog is indeed an interesting service, and maybe a great way to earn extra money, I am not using it anymore.

At the moment, all the tweets from my blogs comes from TwitterFeed.

By the way, follow me on twitter for all my Internet marketing updates.
