It´s been a while since I installed this plugin, but today I thought I write a short post about it. This is actually one of my favorite wordpress plugins and it´s a rather important marketing tool for your wordpress blog. It´s very easy to use and it´s very powerful, just as I like them. First, if you don´t know who Seth Godin is, you should read about him at Wikipedia or visit his blog. He is a famous marketer, but he didn´t make this plugin.
The reason that the plugin is named after Seth Godin, is that he stated that you should treat your visitors different. You should treat returning visitors differently than newbies. So, with this wordpress plugin you can decide whether you want to show an advertisment to your new visitors but not to your loyal ones. This is a great way to do it, as if your blog is full of advertisements your loyal readers might get “upset” and not want to visit that often. Or you can use the plugin to show information about how to subscribe to your feeds, something that is surely very interesting for your first time (or second time) visitors.
If this is your first visit to my blog, you will hopefully see a banner or some kind of advertisement just below this post. If you have been here a few times before, you will not see anything out of the ordinary (you see it inside the dotted lines). Well, other than some other kind of advertisement not related to this plugin 🙂
I have tested it for a while, and I have found that the best way to use it is to use it to display a banner instead of text. This grabs your readers attention way more, and I have set it to be visible to my readers first four visits. In case they miss it the first times.
