What if I earned $50000 a month?

What would you think of me if I was currently earning $50,000 a month (by the way, I am not earning that much)? Would you listen to everything that I had to say, would you read my posts over and over again? Would you copy all my marketing techniques and would you do exactly what I do?

Sometimes I keep asking myself that kind of questions. Because I know the names and the sites of many of the so called gurus, I even “know” how much some of them make a month. Just because they have told somebody who told somebody who told somebody and so on, and a few of the experienced marketers have even posted on their sites how much they have earned the last months.

The problem with this is that we have no evidence at all that they do earn that much, for instance I could post here on my blog that I earn $50,000 a month (well, I kind of just did) and you just had to believe it. I would be a star in your eyes and you would probably think of me as one of the so called gurus. Even though I have just told you a lie.

What am I trying to say here? Well, actually I am not sure. I guess I am trying to tell you that you probably shouldn´t believe everything you read, because you never see the evidence. And if you get to see a picture of someones paypal account, you don´t know that it´s actually theirs. And what if they are earning $50,000 a month? Should this make them more of an authority than regular hardworking online marketers? (I am not one of those either)

Now I know why I wrote this post… because I started to think about something I read in a Norwegian newspaper a few days ago, “the rich is getting richer and the poor is getting poorer” (not even sure if I spelled that right). And I think if you apply this to online marketing, it´s because the rich are thought of as the authority, and when we get a message from a really successful marketer, all the average guys tend to follow the leader and do exactly what he or she tells them to do (even though the message or the new system might be a really stupid one). We do it, because they do it, they get richer and the rest of us won´t.

So, if I told you that I earn $50,000 a month, I would probably increase my earnings several hundred percents by the end of the month, but then I would be a liar and a thief, and I am not 🙂

I think it’s better to brand yourself. If people see me on the comments I post, when I visit blogs, and then come across my blog, they’ll think “Oh I recognize that guy”. But if I was using a photo of someone else, then I’d also have to use that same photo on my site and it wouldn’t be long before the users realize I’m not a woman.

Yes, I agree with you Tim. I just found out that it seems that many are doing this, and it would be interesting to see if it worked. On the other hand, I think this kind of marketing is not something you should do to brand yourself.

Mmm, good post. I’m afraid to say I’ve done just the same thing!! Why I’m not sure just the image “made” me click it. I’ve even clicked through when I have a million other things to do. Does this work with females I wonder. If so I may need to get down the gym!!
