Sometimes I get a little surprised from reading some of the e-mails I receive. Most of them, probably about 95% or so, are trying to sell me something, and I know that.
That’s why it’s not easy to surprise me.
But when professional Internet marketers sends me e-mail with a subject like this one:
You Just Earned $123 In Commissions
and when I open it up and find that the first sentence in the body is
No… actually not quite.
I am surprised.
To me, I find e-mails like this to be rather stupid. But the problem is that most people will open up the e-mail, because they believe that they have earned the $123, and when they read that they haven’t, well, a lot of people will still read the rest of the e-mail.
Why?
Because most of us are easy victims.
Just tell us what we want to hear, or send us an e-mail regarding what we want to read, and we will read it.
We like to read that we have been earning money (even though we know that we haven’t promoted any product or earned any commission).
It’s weird, but it works… and that’s the beauty of copywriting.
