Viral Friend Generator

Mike Filsaime has just launched his newest viral marketing software called Viral Friend Generator. In the last ten minutes or so I have received about 10 offers from various marketers. It seems that there’s quite a buzz about it and that it for sure will be a hit, at least for Mike Filsaime.

I am not going to buy it (at least not yet), it costs $97 and it might work great (I have no idea if it does or not). But I am a little sceptical, especially after reading Dan Moran’s post where he links to another similar software.

    The banner works. One thing I might test is having the banner and having a graphic-oriented button above your photo on the sidebar – full width. Then test how many click-throughs you get using each. You may be able to get rid of the banner if you find the ‘button’ works better. The button, by the way, would be more like an banner add, maybe the size of your ‘earn more’ link. Maybe you’ve tested this already, not sure.

    My one hesitation about the top banner is that it’s pretty much expected that a link in your banner/masthead will lead users back to the homepage. Might it get a little confusing to take them somewhere else? Again, maybe you’ve thought of that and tested it.

    I like this better, though I would optimzie its size to the full width of your sidebar. Fully width – within the design.
