Personally, I never ever read anything that doesn't include some personal'ish info about me.And although I wouldn't say that such a personal letter is marketing, it does create a personal bond between the two parties involved. With todays technology, we tend to forget the importance of receiving letters that are addressed to specific individuals. To really make the letter stand out, I would have to say that the President's need to personally sign the letters. Yes, it's alot, but spread over the course of the semester, signing 10-30 letters a day wouldn't be so bad! I think it is a great concept.
