Top 10 Reasons To Use Facebook Pages

If you haven’t created your Facebook Page(s) yet, I suggest you do it now. Facebook Pages is a powerful way to create viral marketing and gather a huge database of fans. And it might not be that hard to do it.

I believe that the more content you bring to your Facebook Page, the more fans will join you – but before you create it, remember that all the content you bring (at least most of it) should be relevant to your Page. It’s like a niche, if we create a Facebook Page about our College, we should only bring content related to our College and our students/staff. If we start adding content about the olympics or whatever, a lot of people will remove their status as fans.

If you want to create your Facebook Page, I suggest you just get started (it’s easy – you don’t need a tutorial really).

A Facebook Page is your way to connect and communicate with your customers/fans. If you do it right, you can use a Facebook Page to communicate with your customers the exact way they are communicating with their friends and family. That’s why it’s so powerful.

Now, let me tell you the top 10 reasons to use Facebook Pages:

1. You can send updates to all of your fans

It’s like sending a broadcast from AWeber. If you have something to say, you can send the message to all of your fans. I don’t think that there is any limit for how long the message can be, or how often you can send it (but please correct me if I am mistaken).

2. You can have an unlimited number of fans

You probably know that there are more than 70 million members of Facebook, if your customers spread the word, you might see a lot of new fans. A regular user can only have 5,000 friends (at least that’s what I have read).

3. Your Facebook Page is visible to the entire world

If you create a Facebook Page with “the right” name and you add some great content, search engines might actually bring it a lot of traffic. Because a Facebook Page is visible to the entire world. People don’t have to be logged in to Facebook, they don’t have to be a member of Facebook to view your page. But they have to be a member to be able to add themselves as a fan.

4. You can add events to your Facebook Page

Let me give you an example. The college where I work, we have a Facebook Page with quite a few fans. They will receive all the information we send to them, but when we add an event to the Facebook Page, they can spread the word to their friends (people that are not fans of our Facebook Page) and this way we’ll have a viral marketing campaign for the event.

5. You can add a blog to your Facebook Page

It’s has many of the same features as a blog, but it’s called Notes. Every time you have something to say, like highlight something that happened at our college, this is a great way to share it with our fans. It’s like writing your thought on something (yes, it’s like blogging).

6. You can add videos to your Facebook Page

Videos can be awesome, and they have a huge marketing effect if you use them right. We can add videos about how it’s like at our college, this way all our fans will see it. We can add videos of events, so all our fans can share them – and it becomes viral marketing.

7. You can use a discussion forum on your Facebook Page

I think it’s called a discussion board, the spot where all your fans can share their views about your business or your upcoming events. This is a great way to give feedback to our students.

8. You can add a wall to your Facebook Page

If you have used Facebook, you probably know what the wall is about. It’s where people add messages, usually to your profile, but it’s also available for your Pages. All the messages on the wall are visible to every person who visits your Page. It’s sort of like comments on a blog post, but this comment is to the Facebook Page and not a single event/post.

9. You can add reviews to your Facebook Page

This can be used to write reviews of everything related to your Facebook Page. For instance, our students (fans) could use it to review our staff (maybe not a good idea), or they could use it to review our food, books they have read, or what ever comes to their mind. The only limit is their imagination.

10. You can add hundreds (thousands) of applications

There are so many cool applications for Facebook, and new ones are added every single day (at least it seems that way). It’s only a matter of time before you’ll find a brand new really interesting application that you’ll find useful. Just use the search bar in your left sidebar to find applications.
