the one goal for 2012

It’s the last day of the year. It’s cold. It’s getting dark. It’s time to celebrate.

But first.

THANK YOU

I just want to say thank you so much for reading my blog, and for commenting, and for having awesome conversations with me during 2011.

Next year will be a lot different than this year, but the one thing, the most important thing about 2012, will be publishing my novel. That’s the one thing I’m going to accomplish.

No matter what happens in 2012, I’m going to get my novel published.

The Awakening

I have named 2012, The AWAKENING. That’s because I’ll finally end up doing what I’ve been talking about for so long. And I believe that it’s going to make a huge difference for me.

I think it’s important to have a name for each new year, and the name should be a name according to what you’d like to accomplish during that year.

That’s because …

Every year should be your year

Do you have one goal, a goal so much more important than all the other goals for 2012?

I believe it’s important to focus on one goal at a time. And that’s why I have named my year after my #1 goal. The awakening was also the first title of my novel, when I first started writing it. At that time, the novel was in English.

Let me also ask you this, if you had a personal name for 2012, what would that name be?

Let’s discuss.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wow, I never thought about naming years. Queen Elizabeth named 1992 Annus Horribilis after it was over: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHlEzh5ky1A. Little did she know what lay ahead.

I don’t believe I ever know what lays ahead of us. So perhaps I will name 2011 instead since it’s nearly over and I have a pretty good idea of what it entailed. 2011 I would name “New Beginnings” since my husband got a new job, my daughter started a new school and I started The Wonder of Tech. 2011 was not a perfect year, but it was a great year for our family.

I hope 2012 brings you much happiness and continued success, Jens! I look forward to your publishing your book. I will have to start learning Norwegian, I think!

      Hi Carolyn,

It’s so much more fun to name a year ahead of time, this way we can look back the last day of the year to see if what we expected to happen actually happened :)

It’s amazing that you started your blog in 2011. You’ve come very far in so little time. I’m so glad that I’m part of your journey.

Thank you so much for all your support during 2011, and I’m sure 2012 will be a lot more success for the both of us.

… and I’m looking forward to test your Norwegian skills :)

Jens, I wish you every success with your novel. I know what a labor of love and commitment it is to write a book, having watched my brother spend 2 years writing his book, “Curtains: Adventures of an Undertaker in Training”, which was listed one of the top 10 non-fiction books in Canada last year. I wish you the same type of success for the fruits of your labor.

My name for 2012?…I shall have to think about that one. What I do know is that many changes are afoot for me, as they are for many I’ve been talking with. We all seem to be on the same wavelength of exciting change and growth.

I’m delighted to have connected with you Jens, and I look forward to our continued connection and friendship in 2012:) Cheers! Kaarina

So you had originally thought about writing your novel in English? Ah Jens, just think of what a huge success it would be just through all of your blogging friends. You KNOW we’d all buy your book but maybe some day you’ll write one for us.

I’ve never thought of naming the years either Jens. But I do have one specific goal in mind for this year and that’s totally exploding my network marketing business. I haven’t been as diligent as I had hoped with this year but I’ve learned so very much from this experience. So I’m taking what I’ve learned and am diving in head first.

I’m really excited about what 2012 will bring us all and I’m also very blessed to have had this opportunity to get to know you. I have to be honest with you Jens, I was very intimidated by you when I first visited your blog. You just seemed to have it all together and in my mind you were so very successful. I didn’t know what I could contribute but I promised myself I would step outside my comfort zone anyway and boy am I glad I did. You are about as down to earth, kind, generous, helpful, supportive and as genuine a person as I’ve ever met. So thank you for being you Jens.

Have a wonderful celebration and I wish you all the best in the new year.

      Hi Adrienne,

I will write an ebook in English during 2012, and I’ll publish it for Kindle (and maybe I’ll give away the PDF for free, not sure yet).

I’m sure you’re going to have massive success in 2012, and I’m looking forward to be along for the ride. I had no idea that you were intimidated when you first visited my blog. I’m so glad that you stayed, because I’ve learned so much from you.

Thank you so much for everything in 2011, and I’m sure that 2012 will be a successful year for both of us 2012. Let’s have more contact in 2012.

Hi, Jens. Good post here. I never thought of giving a title to a year. It is an optimistic approach.

In the meantime, have a great New Year, and much luck to you with the book you are working on.

    Will write again soon.

    Stay well!

    • Jens says:

      Hi Joe,

I love being optimistic, and I believe in the power of optimistic thoughts. I know that 2012 will be a magic year, and it will be for all of us who hustle and won’t settle until we’ve done some magic :)

Happy New Year Joe. Talk to you soon.

  7. Hi Jens,

Focusing on 1 thing brings the 1 thing into form more quickly.

What you focus on expands. Love your idea, and I know your novel will be a raging success.

I am focusing on the word “presence”. I hold 1 primary intent in all I do, and remain present as much as possible while holding the intent. I want to make an impact, so people will remember me, and I can branch out, and connect with more people, and touch more lives.

More presence = The more your presence expands. I think each of us wants that, on a deeper level, so we can touch more lives in a positive way.

Thanks for sharing your insight with us Jens. Happy New Year :)

      Hi Ryan,

Absolutely. Focusing on 1 thing is important. I am having trouble at only foucsing at one thing at a time, but 2012 will be different. And I won’t be doing much of the other things before I finish my novel. I’m almost done, but I keep doing so many other things all the time :)

Presence is a nice word, and important. I know I’ll be seing you around in 2012, and I hope to connect and learn a lot from you.

      Happy New Year Ryan.

  8. Opportunity; that is my name for 2012.

I thought of you last night as our last meal of ’11 was Papa John’s Tuscany Cheese Pizza with my handy Tabasco sauce. I usually eat like it’s my last meal and I haven’t eaten in a week, but made sure I savored it this time.

2012 will be interesting for us all, especially for us who ‘hang’ together. ’11 was a year of discovery, trying to find our way and ’12 will be a year of maturity and more focus. I imagine a lot of us will be changing in some form or fashion this year.

My one resolution: to be way cooler than I was last year. One can never be ‘too cool’, right?

Happy New Year to you; I will definitely be seeing you around.

That’s the perfect last meal in 2011, and I’m glad it wasn’t a burger, but a Cheese Pizza. From the pictures I’ve seen from Papa John, the pizza looks awesome… I’m thinking that I need to make a pizza for dinner tonight. I didn’t eat pizza as the last meal of 2011, but I need pizza to be my first dinner for 2012 :)

Opportunity is a very interesting word, and I could have used that one as well. I’m looking forward to follow your path and I know that 2012 will be a fantastic year for both of us.

I didn’t think that it was possible to be any cooler, but I’m taking your word for it, and I’m looking forward to the new cooler Bill :)

      Happy New Year Bill.

  12. I’m sad that your novel will be in Norwegian Jens, but pleased to hear that you will have a book in English as well. Since I turned 40 (in 2010) I’ve been referring to this as ‘My Decade’. And so far so good. But if I had to drill it down to one year, 2012, I think I’d like to call it ‘The Year of Traction’. Last year I launched my freelance copywriting business and started my blog. Great year. This is the year I hope to achieve traction and some measure of success. I want to look back (this time next year) and have a sense that things are humming along. I’m glad we’ve met Jens – I’ve learned a lot from your blog and look forward to growing our friendship!

      Hi Ruth,

I can’t believe that you launched your freelance copywriting business only last year. To me, it looks like you’re very experienced and that your business is many years old.

I have so many questions to the freelance copywriting business, and I think you should write a guide to how someone “like me” can start their own freelance copywriting business, maybe a book about how you got started, and everything you’ve learned so far (and how to avoid all the mistakes).

I’d love to co-write a book with you about vegetarianism.. that would be a great challenge for 2012.

Thank you so much for everything so far, and let’s make 2012 our most fantastic year so far.

Hope you can deliver your novel in English as well.

As for naming my year, I’d definitely go with “The Leap”.

My previous year was all about getting tangled and bitten as much as I could, now it’s about applying and stepping out of the 97% side of the pie and see how greener the grass looks from there.

I love your post. I’ve never thought of naming a year, but I like the idea. So 2012 for me is The Advancement. I found the following on Thesaurus.com for advancement: advancement – suggests progression that is bigger, more, or beyond normal. This is the year to take the necessary steps to advance the goals I’ve set for myself.

Good luck with The Awakening! I look forward to hearing that your book has been published.
