I spend little time to analyze my traffic, and I spend little time to evalute my blog (the design, navigation) and I never edit old blog posts. I know that I should do it, but I don’t.
Usually, I have time to write new blog posts, and I write new instead of looking at the old ones. That’s not always a good idea.
Let me give you an example of why.
A few days ago I decided to test the wibiya toolbar, and you can probably still see it at the bottom of my blog.
What happened was that as soon as I installed it, I noticed that I could view real time statistics, and see how many people are visiting my blog and which articles they are reading.
After using the toolbar for a few minutes I discovered that a lot of people were visiting especially one article, how to create a twitter list. I decided to visit it, and as soon as I looked at the article I saw that the images was missing. The reason they were missing was because of the heaven and hell of blogging.
I found the images, and edited the blog post, and within a couple of minutes, everything was back to normal. What I noticed was that the blog post had only been retweeted 5 times (no wonder, it was broken). 30 minutes after I fixed it, it had been retweeted 13 times.
I’m not sure if it was because of the wibiya toolbar or not, but if I hadn’t installed it, I wouldn’t have noticed that the images was missing. Now, I’m checking the real time statistics quite often, so I can see if there are any more messed up blog posts.
