At Facebook, as Twitter, you can get your own domain. Now you can use facebook.com/username as your url, instead of the long and difficult to remember url. In order to get the short and sweet one, you need to do a few changes.

Two Reasons Why

First, it's a lot easier to remember and to share the url. Just remember a person's name, or the name of the company, and you'll find them on Facebook. And it looks a lot nicer when you send this new url to people.

The College where I work is not using Facebook Pages to attract new students. The reason that we're not, is because we don't have a strategy when it comes to using social marketing. Hopefully, that's about to change soon.

At the moment, I'm reviewing last years marketing campaign for our college. I'm considering what we thought of as success, and what was not a success. Most likely, we'll continue with some of the advertisements, but with a different message.

What we're looking for is a campaign that will focus on two levels.

The first level is the people that have decided to attend a college or a university. We'll try to get their attention, and we'll tell them that our college is the best choice.

Don't use your corporate logo, use your own picture on twitter, facebook and all the other social networks. People socialize, companies don't.

Millions of people are using websites like facebook and twitter every single day. New social websites are appearing every week (at least that's what it seems like). I have talked to many people that are getting huge amounts of traffic from twitter alone. It seems that social marketing was one of the best ways to market any product or service during 2008, and it seems like it might be one of the best ways so far this year.

I have been using Facebook for a while, but ever since most of my regular friends (my offline friends) joined, I have had a challenge to find a way to use Facebook for marketing purposes. I don't want to combine friends and business (business with pleasure), and therefore, I have not been using its full potential.

I haven’t really thought about it before, but I have been blogging for a while. I discovered this obvious fact today, that’s because I am writing a sort of a recap of all my Facebook posts. When I decided to do so, I never thought that I would find that many posts. Actually, I found a lot more posts than I thought I’d find. I can’t put links to them all in this one post. If I did, this post would either take me forever to write, or it would be just packed with links.

Today, I'll be describing (short) why you should be using Facebook groups and how you can find interesting groups, and how to create your own group on Facebook.

One of the most powerful marketing techniques when you use Facebook is when you use friends lists. Think of it like a newsletter. You can group your friends related to their interests. When you have, you can send each group of friends emails related to what you think they'll enjoy. This is a very easy way to get the word out.

Let me give you an example, and then explain how you can create friends lists on Facebook.

Finally I understand what twitter is all about, well, actually not only twitter. I think I finally understand what social media is all about. I am the first to admit that it took me a while, it was I time when I thought I was the only one that didn't understand why I should be using twitter (and many of the other services). But, today, on the first day of 2009, it's different. I need to think of the whole social media race; youtube, facebook, twitter, myspace, digg, reddit, stumbleupon as a big party.
