They are different than the big three multinationals because they are an indigenously owned and operated tea company that also owns over sixty of the world's finest tea estates in their country of Sri Lanka, which tea experts generally credit as making the world's greatest teas. Dilmah Tea (www.dilmahtea.com) features four of their best estates by elevation: LOVERS LEAP (extreme high), SOMERSET (high), DOOMBAGASTALAWA (medium) & NILAGAMA low). Elevation makes all the difference in taste profiles, as you'll see when you try these four gardens against each other. I would not buy China teas until the Chinese can verify chain of custody on their teas - China will not release any information about about their tea gardens - including even names. This will change in the coming years, but til then, I'd stick with reputable tea producers that have an open book and flow of info about their tea production - countries like Sri Lanka, Kenya and India.
