Get a Powerful SEO Software for Free

air hockey

I have been using Long Tail ProΒ for a long time, and to me, it’s one of the best tools for search engine optimization available.

I use Long Tail Pro every single day. It’s not by far the only tool I am using, but it’s the one tool I recommend for finding new keywords.

You can read my reviewΒ for more details.

The reason I am writing about Long Tail Pro today, is because I have received a free copy of the software. I am going to give away one license to Long Tail Pro for one of the people who comments on this post. And, I will use a random number service to find the winner.

Your turn:

I’d love to get some feedback on what type of software/service you are using for SEO. Are you already using Long Tail Pro, or are you using a different service?

The lucky winner will be announced on Friday.

Update: Carolyn Nicander Mohr is the lucky winner.

  1. I have a tried a few, and somehow I always go back to Google keyword tool. Ubersuggest.org is free, recommended on the Warrior Forum as a good tool for finding out long tail keywords – and I quite trust the Warriors recommendations :o)
Market Samurai and WordStream have good reviews, but I found that most people use Google Adword Keyword Tool as an essential and the best tool.

Some keywords tools are slow, some lack in competition analysis, some are expensive – I guess the choice depends on how much research you do, and on your budget…

  2. I have also used Long tail Pro its really nice and helpful to me for my blog SEO.

Hope I will get it from you πŸ™‚

Hi Jens, I’m using Traffic Travis, Google Adwords Keyword tool, Yoast, and SEO Spyglass for SEO right now. I do most of my work with the Keyword tool, and then use the others to focus particulars. Would like to give Long Tail Pro a try!

    • Hi Jim,

I have never tried Traffic Travis. Is it any good?

I have made the draw and unfortunately you didn’t win. Carolyn Nicander Mohr won the contest. Have a wonderful weekend.

      • Jim Zboran says:

        Hi Jens,

My focus is on content but I keep SEO very much in the corner of my eye when creating content. With that in mind, Traffic Travis works well in the limited task for which I use it: finding top 10 SERP URLS for target keywords and determining the easiest to rank for and what SEO elements are missing on the existing top 10.

There’s a whole lot more I could do with it, but I use the other tools to do those things because I’m only using the free version of TT, which is limited in some cases, but for what I want it to do, I’m very happy. I’ll probably buy the full version eventually, but I’m not in any hurry to do so right now. You might want to give the free version a try… it’s got some nice features.

Congrats to Carolyn for winning the contest πŸ™‚

Thanks for the good wishes for my weekend — it was very good, thank you. I hope yours was as well πŸ™‚

        • Hi Jim,

I haven’t tried Traffic Travis, but it seems that it’s a great software. I have heard many great things about it. I keep testing various SEO tools to find the right software for me, it’s usually price vs value. And I just cancelled my pro+ account at SEOmoz just because the price was too high and even the value was great, the price tag was too much for me and my clients πŸ™‚

Oh my.., a lucky draw. Have. To. Enter.

I don’t use anything at the moment.., shame on me. I’m still writing about what ever pops into my head. Not really focussing on SEO, but rather on the writing and my thoughts, for now.
This will have to change at some point.

    • Hi Rogier,

I believe that the best posts I have read are the ones that are just thoughts. But, after I started my own business, I needed to focus on traffic from the search engines and that’s when I started with SEO.

I have made the draw and unfortunately you didn’t win. Carolyn Nicander Mohr won the contest. Have a wonderful weekend.

  7. I’ve never used any SEO software, but I would give it a try, if I won.

The problem I seem to have with getting excited about SEO is that I find it hard to believe there is organic traffic out there that wants to find me. I guess I’ve come to the realization that my blog doesn’t have a point, other than a place for me to write books and occasionally pen missives about social media, but it isn’t a destination blog.

In the grand scheme of things, I think the problem is I don’t have a plan, nor do I have any interest in taking the time to make one. My blog is mostly a self-motivational tool to keep me writing every day. For that, it works well.

    • Carolyn says:

Hi Brian, Not every blog is really SEO compatible, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the blog. Bill Dorman’s great blog isn’t really an SEO blog but that’s the nature of his blog, which is all about him (though it isn’t really, but don’t tell him that!).

If you have a lot of readers arrive at your blog from Google, then you have an SEO-friendly blog. If you don’t then your blog isn’t really SEO compatible.

That being said, you know I’m a huge fan of your blog. When people search for “amazing,” they should see Extremely Average in the results!

  8. Carolyn says:

Hi Jens, I would like to try Long Tail Pro, please enter me in the contest. I don’t pay much attention to Keywords, but I probably should. I get most of my traffic from Google, even though I don’t do keyword research. I figure I spend so much time researching tech that I don’t want to waste my research time on keywords. Perhaps that is the wrong attitude…

Thanks for making this available to your readers, Jens. I know you’re a huge fan of Long Tail Pro!

    • Hi Carolyn,

I just want to tell you that you are the winner of Long Tail Pro πŸ™‚

I will email Spencer and let him know.

      Have a wonderful weekend.

      • Carolyn says:

Thank you very much, Jens! I am delighted to be the winner of your contest. I have downloaded Long Tail Pro and will be giving it a whirl. I appreciate you having this great contest for your readers.

        • My pleasure Carolyn. I am eager to hear your opinion of Long Tail Pro. I have found some very interesting keywords for myself and for my clients by using it. And I am still using it every single day.

          • Carolyn says:

Thank you so much, Jens, for this valuable tool. I used a keyword for my blog post on Monday that I would not have thought of otherwise: games. The article got a lot of traffic, thanks to Long Tail Pro!

            • That’s awesome. I use it every single day, mostly for my clients and in order to plan my future content. I especially find new interesting keywords and I look at the competition to see if I have a chance to rank among the top 10.

        • Congratulations Carolyn!

You surely deserve this and we would all look forward to hearing your views about it once you use it too as Jens speaks so highly of it. πŸ™‚

  9. Lisa says:

I’ve been using Yoast on my blog and Google adwords tool on my other sites. I’d love to try LongTailPro to compare as well. I’ve used SEO Quake too for all of them on occasion. It works best on Firefox and I so much prefer Chrome for it’s speed.

    • Hi Lisa,

I have been using the Google Adwords tool as well, and it’s amazing how many interesting keywords I’ve found using this free tool. Long Tail Pro is fairly expensive, but if you’re doing SEO, I believe it’s worth every penny. I paid the full price and I have been using it every single day.

I have made the draw and unfortunately you didn’t win. Carolyn Nicander Mohr won the contest. Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Tim Bonner says:

    Hi Jens

I use a couple of plugins on my blog for SEO, Yoast and Inboundwriter. Inboundwriter analyses your post whilst you’re writing it and brings back keyword suggestions to improve your SEO.

I also use the Google Adwords Tool sometimes and the free version of SEO Powersuite (although I hate the Captcha’s I always get on that).

Long Tail Pro looks good though. Count me in!

    • Hi Tim,

I have never used Inboundwriter, but it sounds a lot like EASY WP SEO and SEOPRESSOR. I have tried both, and currently I am using EASY WP SEO on my blogs. I have bought the premium version of SEO Powersuite and I use that for many of my clients.

I have made the draw and unfortunately you didn’t win. Carolyn Nicander Mohr won the contest. Have a wonderful weekend.

  11. Aayna says:

    Hi Jens,
Never heard about Long tail Pro. Seems to be a useful tool. Thanks for the share

  12. Mike Hale says:

I haven’t checked out Long Tail Pro, but it looks pretty good from your review. Would be great to win a copy. Thanks!

    • Hi Mike,

You should definitively check out Long Tail Pro. I am using it every single day. I have made the draw and unfortunately you didn’t win. Carolyn Nicander Mohr won the contest. Have a wonderful weekend.

  13. I had read and tweeted couple of your posts/reviews on Long Tail Pro,havent tried it before, would love to win and try it…

  14. Garen says:

    Hey Jens,

I have heard of the program a week or so ago. I used MS for a longtime, but now I just use SEOmoz and my pro account to see how hard I am going to have to work to get something ranked on Google. Do you use SEOmoz Pro? Let me know if you ever need rank reports ran on your comp πŸ™‚

    • Hey Garen,

I am using SEOmoz Pro Plus, Long Tail Pro and SEO Powersuite. I am combining all of them to get the best results. But, I am not sure how much longer I am going to use SEOmoz, and that’s because I find it a bit expensive. But it sure is powerful. I do many of the same things with SEO Powersuite, but SEOmoz automates many of the things I am doing manually. So time is also an issue.

  15. Rusty says:

Never tried to use Long Tail Pro and I think I need to try this one! For now, I am using the new Free Social BuzzBundle and I think this one is also a great and powerful tool.

  16. Sapna says:

    HI Jens

I am late though, but I was not aware of Long tail pro before landing on to your post.
Thanks for the information. Also I want to congratulate Carolyn through your blog.

  17. Rich Blogger says:

I disagree. I’ve looked online and can’t find that many outstanding reviews of the service. I feel that there are plenty of FREE alternatives out there that do just about the same. Using a mix of good research and using tools that are already out there, I bet you can get the same results with just a little more effort than using Long Tail Pro. Just my two cents.

  18. Abhihek says:

I just started blogging and dont have enough money to go for any premium service so, i am using free adwords keyword reserch tool and its working pretty good to me.

    • I also started out with using free services, and they work fine. It just takes a lot more time to do the same analysis. So, to me it’s more an issue of spending a lot of time vs the value I get by doing it faster by spending money on the services. I was blogging for a few years before I bought SEO software.

  19. Barbi says:

Honestly, I haven’t used any software for SEO before, I’ve only installed the SEO-All-in-One plugin pack for WordPress. But after reading your review, I feel totally assured about the benefits and effectivity of the Long Tail Pro software. Thanks for giving away your copy, I wish I had some luck:)

    • I have used the same plugin as you, and it’s really good and it helps a lot. But, what I needed as well was a way to find the right keywords to target on my blog (and for my clients) and a way to analyze my site and my competitors. Long Tail Pro is the best tool I’ve used to find new keywords.

  20. Alok says:

I have never use any paid software for SEO, I am only using Google keywords tool for my blog and website optimization. But after reading your post I have a develop interest to use this free software. Thank you for sharing this free SEO software.

    • Goole keyword tool is a great tool, and Long Tail Pro is using the results from this tool to show the results. The great thing about Long Tail Pro is that it’s very fast, and it has some awesome filters to find exactly what you’re looking for.

  21. Maja says:

I am using Google Keyword tool and if you want to dish up me licence, I will be grateful to you. Waiting for your reply.
