Nobel Peace Price and marketing

Later today, the winners of the Nobel Peace Price, Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, will receive the price at a ceremony in Oslo.

A few minutes ago, I opened a Norwegian newspaper while eating breakfast, and I saw two huge advertisements for Norwegian companies telling the world (or at least Norwegians) that they congratulate the winners of the Nobel Peace Price and a few other more or less interesting statements regarding the climatic changes.

To me, this is just a marketing trick, a way to promote a company in the light of a very popular “event”. I am not saying that it shouldn’t be legal, I am only saying that they are sort of using the event / ceremony to promote something that really got nothing to do with this peace price (other than that the companies with the ads are saying that they are very concerned about the climatic changes and that they are really doing something about it).

Maybe this is how we all should promote our websites and businesses?

In that case, why don’t we start by using big banners on our blogs saying something like:

We support the fight against poverty, please buy our products.

As far as I am concerned, Operation Black Box is a complete waste of time, effort and money.

Operation Black Box is completly unsatisfactory. Not fit for purpose, in fact not fit for anything.

There should be rules and regulations in place to protect online buyers from this type of junk.

The concept of Operation Black Boz is excellent . . . but the dream has crumbled. Operation Black Box is not what it should be.

I have had two webmasters take down my affiliate link for this program because of problems with the website, mainly failing to load.

I had the misfortune to upgrade to GOLD member, Oh my God !!!

What a shambles, what a mess. I’m not trying to cause a big sensation . . . but this is terrible.

Day by Day, more and more location links fail, thats if you can get the website to l;oad up.

My advice to you . . . give Operation Black Boz a big MISS !!!
