I am the first to admit that sometimes it’s fairly hard to find interesting topics to write about, and sometimes, even though I have the perfect topic, it can be fairly hard to find the right words. But, creative bloggers never get writer’s block, and I’ll tell you why.
Writing is all about being creative. As a blogger, we need to use words to express our thoughts, fantasies and ideas. Writer’s block is sort of a period when all the creativity seems to be gone, and you just can’t find anything to write about. It happens to a lot of people, and there are several reasons why it happens.
Let meg give you a few examples of what you shouldn’t be doing. It’s about how you write.
1. Fatigue
You might be one of those people who sit down to write after a long day at the office. You might be one of those people who sit down in the evening after you’ve put the kids to bed and done all of the household chores. If you do, you should understand that the brain gets tired too and when you are exhausted, that’s not the time to try to concentrate and write.
2. Procrastination
Sometimes, you’ll have a major deadline, but for some reason you just can’t get going on the project until the last minute. Some people work well under pressure, but I believe that most people can’t be creative if they are under major pressure (especially when it comes to time).
3. Getting it right the first time
Remember, no one is perfect. Even the greatest writer didn’t start out that way and not with their first draft. The words that you ultimately want will come in time, but if you try to find them at the outset, you won’t get anything down on paper.
4. Mess
Most people write better and are more creative if they have less chaos around them. Think about it, if your desk is full of papers, old coffee cups, bills and small toys, it’s not the environment you’re looking for.
5. Fear
A lot of people fear failing. Fear is a powerful deterrent to creativity. If you fear failing to write or you fear success, it can prevent you from being creative, it can even prevent you from finding the title of your next blog post.
I’ve given you some reasons for why people get writer’s block, now, let me tell you how to avoid it.
1. Learn to concentrate
Writing, just like anything else, requires that all of you be present during the creation.
2. Never expect it to be perfect
Perfectionism is your worst enemy. I believe that you should start by getting your ideas down on paper or onto your computer. You should resist the urge to correct misspellings, grammar mistakes and anything else that would look wrong to an editor.
3. Write because you love it
When writing becomes a job, your creativity stops growing. The joy of writing keeps you going, happily. It doesn’t matter if you are earning money or not, it doesn’t matter how many people are reading what you write, you write because you love to.
Stay creative and full of energy, and hopefully you’ll never experience writer’s block.
