I have been using a software called Long Tail Pro for a few weeks. I have been focusing on keyword research for a long time, and once in a while, I have been using the free Google keyword research tool in order to try to rank some of my blog posts, I got lucky a few times, but I decided to buy Long Tail Pro in order to do some detailed research for my clients.
Long Tail Pro is fast with lots of details
There are three reasons why I decided to buy Long Tail Pro. And, when I discovered how fast it was, and that I got the results a lot faster than I had thought was possible, I was very surprised. Keyword research isn’t that hard, and many times, I spend 10 or 15 minutes, and that’s all. I’m talking about how I use Long Tail Pro to find keywords for my blog posts, not for my clients.
I create campaigns, and find keywords that are related to my topic/products, and I try to find the ones with the most searches. I use Long Tail Pro to filter the results and get the highest numbers at the top. After I’ve found the most interesting keywords, I analyze the competition with Long Tail Pro, to see if I have a chance to get among the top 10 on Google. I’m not going to waste my time to try and beat high authority sites.
Finally, I use the Rank Checker in Long Tail Pro to keep track of how my keywords are doing. I do this a few times a week. And if they’re not receiving a better rank at Google, I’ll try to build some extra links to the post (both external and internal).

This looks kind of like a simpler version of Market Samurai, which I paid the same price for but which has more features. However, if Long Tail Pro is faster than Market Samurai it could be a good alternative. My MS can be very slow at times. Have you ever tried it as a comparison?
I also have Wordtracker, but just haven’t been able to master it. If I’m in a rush, I often end up going to their free tool or to the free Google keyword tool if I’m just looking for a quick long tail keyword to write a post.
How fast was Long Tail Pro when you want to look at a lot of keywords?

Yes, I believe Long Tail Pro is a simpler version of Market Samurai. I’m not really sure about all the differences, but from what I’ve read (and the short period while I tested Market Samurai), the biggest difference is the speed. And now that I’ve read some recent reviews (Ana at TrafficGenerationCafe and Pat Flynn at Smart Passive Income), there seems to be some issues with Google and Market Samurai? What’s interesting with Long Tail Pro is that it uses Google Adwords (and I’m logging in to Google Adwords), so the results seems to be very accurate.

Long Tail Pro looks like a good software program, but am not sure that it truly delivers as much value for the dollar as Market Samurai does. The important thing when using any software though, is that it does what you need it to do. So for the person that is looking for research materials or items to advertise on their site, Long Tail Pro looks to be a good option. By the way, good video and truly your accent does not impact the viewer’s ability to understand the message you are conveying. Thanks for the info.

The reason I bought it is because I read several things about the issues Marketing Samurai was having with Google, and because Long Tail Pro is a lot faster, and it has exactly what I need. I wouldn’t use all the various features of Market Samurai, and that’s why I ended up with Long Tail Pro

Well I’m a Market Samurai proud owner and for what I use it, it works amazingly well.
If I’m really concerned about locating a niche and don’t know anything about it, I’d normally start inside Google’s Keyword Tool and then use the results there as seed keywords for Market Samurai and then take it from there.
The content inside MS is compared to Bing’s database and when I have the ending results, I run some manual checks in Google again and that’s it.
However, IF I do know a lot about the niche, I just go inside MS and in less than 20 minutes I have every single thing drilled down.
I think it all comes down to how comfortable are you with the tool and MS is still pretty robust in my eyes.
About Long Tail Pro I really can’t say much since I never reviewed it or used it before but the more available resources, the better!

SEO is very important and I keep reading about it and testing various tools to find out what to do for my clients in order to help them. Right now, Long Tale Pro is just plain awesome. I have heard about Market Samurai from Ana’s and a few other blogs, though never heard of Long Tail Pro. But after having seen the video and read your review, it sure seems something worth giving it a try, especially as it also comes with a money back guarantee- and gives you enough time check it out during that period.
I haven’t really used keywords earlier, though lately I have started using Google Adwords and they seem to be working well too. I wonder how Long Tail Pro is different from Google Adwords? Or perhaps I don’t know the details of Long Tail Pro as yet, I find them similar

I own MS and have used it for about a couple of years. During that time I’ve probably had as much down time as up time. It seems to hang mid-task all the time. I haven’t been able to get any results in a couple of months.
Always hoping for a fix, but to have the “fix” be “now you have to pay for the services we told you were included in the product you purchased” leaves a rather bad taste in my mouth.
I can just see trying that on my clients. “Hi, remember that consultation I did with you last year? Well, if you want to keep/use the information I provided, I decided you need to pay me $50 per month for the rest of your life.”
