Offering blog subscriptions is key. We’ve found that a lot of the traffic to our blog comes from clickthroughs on the updates we send out to email subscribers (RSS subscribers click through as well but it seems that our email ones are more responsive).

One other tactic you may find helpful is to embed a signup form at the end of a post, saying something to the effect of “Did you find this helpful?
