iTunes Podcasts You Should Listen To

itunes podcasts

When I walk, I listen to music or podcasts, well, sometimes I listen to nature, but usually it’s music or podcasts. I walk for at least an hour every single day, and to me, walking has become part of how I work. I use my time walking to get ideas, to take notes, and to get creative. Walking helps me with almost everything, it doesn’t matter if I’m having a bad hair day, or if I’m preparing myself for a major presentation.

When I walk, I keep talking to myself. I listen to my voice and how it sounds. Nobody can hear it, but I’m saying every word out loud. Sometimes it’s just like I’m dreaming. I see the cars, the people, and the birds go by so incredible fast, and then I blink, and I see them all go by really slow. I keep saying that it’s the music, or the voices from the podcasts, that are taking me to new places.

When I walk, the sun is always shining, even when it’s completely dark outside, and the rain is pouring down. It’s because I’m never actually there. I’m always somewhere else. I’m where the podcast is taking me, it might be in Costa Rica along with Srinivas Rao and his Blogcast FM or in Floriday with Scott Smith and his The Daily Boost.

When I walk, I listen to the following podcasts:

Podcasts about marketing

Podcasts about Personal Development

Podcasts about Writing

When I walk, I get the feeling that I can do anything. Listening to podcasts motivates me, and it makes me feel that I belong. Listening to podcasts is one of the best ways to learn.

Now, let me ask you this; do you listen to podcasts?

If you do, I’d love to add some more awesome podcasts to my list.

Podcasts mentioned in the comments

Since I’ve already received some awesome tips about quality podcasts, I decided to list all the podcasts mentioned in the comments here. This way it will be easier for you to subscribe:

  1. Kimberly Castleberry

I hadn’t seen BeanCast before so I’ll have to give that a listen. I’m subscribed to most of the others in marketing. I would add the “I love marketing Podcast”, and “small business big marketing” podcast and “Freedom Ocean” (James Schramko) and for something a little different “The trouble with freedom” podcast. All in business/marking genre.

Awesome post! I’m not a huge fan of podcasts, I listen to couple of music podcasts when I’m really bored 😛 (Matt Darey)
Will certainly give your list a shot :) … will comment with my honest opinion 😀

    Hey Jens, great list!

I already had a few of these, added a few more…. just an FYI, Internet Marketing Mogul looks dead (their site hasn’t posted anything since September either).

I love podcasts for while I am working, biking, working out, and especially traveling.

Hi Jens, As you know I’m a big podcast fan, though I lean towards the tech side. My favorites are The Cell Phone Junkie, Today in iOS, The Kindle Chronicles, iPhone Live, iPad Live and We Have Communicators. One of my favorite podcasts, New York Times Bits Tech Talk, went off the air at the end of last year.

I have subscribed to Kim’s podcast and am excited to have discovered some other new ones here!

    Thanks for sharing these, Jens!

    • Hi Carolyn,

I have added your podcasts to the list on this post, and I need to start listening to some tech podcasts too. I really love tech, but I’ve been so focused on marketing lately, so I’ve almost forgot how much fan I am of gadgets and games etc.. but after meeting you, I have started playing games again :)

  5. Craig McBreen

    Jens,

Great list and I’m a fan of many of the podcasts you mentioned.

Copyblogger also has a great podcast.

I would also add podcasts OUT of the blogging realm, which are great for generating ideas:

    This American Life
    The Moth
    Intelligence squared

    Creativity:
    The Accidental Creative

Comedy: if you’re easily offended, please DON’T check these out :)
    Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast
    Marc Maron WTF

    BBC:
In Our Time with Melvyn Bragg

Just a few I listen to.

  6. I have not done a good job listening to podcasts; usually just music. Maybe I should put forth more of an effort to do so.

Now that you have put some out their to review, I better check them out.

Thanks for compiling and sharing walking man………:)

  7. Lori Ruff, The LinkedIn Diva

Great list! Call me parial, but we have a ton of fun producing #RockTheWorld with LinkedIn. http://rocktheworldradio.com. It airs on Webmasterradio.fm live on Mondays at 7:00 pm Eastern and is uploaded to itunes within a day or so.

I’d LOVE to interview you about your podcast list. People ask us often about other shows we recommend!

    • Hi Lori,

RockTheWorld sounds awesome. I have added it to the list on this post. And I’m definitively subscribing. I’m not sure if I’m ready for an interview just yet, but I might be soon :)

Thanks again for letting me know about your podcast. Hopefully you’ll be getting some new fans after this, well, at least one :)

  8. I agree, thanks Jens for this fabulous list. I will definitely come back over here later and check out some of the podcasts you shared about marketing. I upload podcasts to my iPod and listen to them while I walk each day. I’m ready for some new tunes! :-)

    Thanks Jens… Great list!

    • Hi Adrienne,

You should, I love listening to podcasts while I walk, I get so much inspiration from that. Now, because of all the awesome comments, I have even more podcasts to listen to.

I am also listening to a few Norwegian podcasts, but I didn’t add them to the list :)

    • Hi Jack,

I really enjoy listening to BlogcastFM, it might be my favorite, and that’s mostly because it’s all about interviews with highly successful people in marketing/blogging. But, as a writer, I recommend that you listen to “I should be writing” and “Writing excuses” as well. That’s the ones I listen to the most. All the others are really good as well, bu it depends on how many you want to listen to… it takes a lot of time :)

  9. Hey Jens, you;re the second blog I had to re-subscribe to today that I was already sub’d up to?

Not sure why this is happening – but I have you back in my email box where you belong :)

I listen to most of the podcasts in your list : ) – There are a few I’m not familiar with, so thanks for sharing; I will be sure to check them out.

    • Hi Mark,

Oh, I hope it’s not because of what I’ve been doing with W3 Total Cache and Amazon S3. I have been tweaking it to get better speed, and maybe my feed stopped working?

It’s awesome that you’re listenting to the podcasts already. I still remember listening to you on BlogCastFM. By the way, do you hang out with Srinivas Rao?

  10. Srini and I had an opportunity to hang out a bit when he was here in Costa Rica. We had some good times and he was able to stay at my home and meet my family. He also took my kids surfing!

We stay in touch quite a bit now that he’s back in the U.S. We’ll be connected on life’s journey, as will we, from here on out.

How cool is that : )

  11. Praveen Rajarao

Awesome, this is the exact thing I was looking for. I will surely bookmark this page and listen to each one of them. I am totally into podcasts now and this is the exact article i was looking for. Thanks for putting up the list.

  12. Brian D. Hawkins

I use just listening to Science Friday on iTunes yesterday and was thinking I should find something on blogging and marketing to listen to and here you come; making things easy on me. I appreciate the resources.

  13. tankless water heater

I’m not that into PodCasts really but reading this here makes me think that I kind of missing something nowadays for not trying it. Thanks for this cool information that makes me want to really try it now.

  14. People like to consume media differently, so including another media option could help you reach new audience. Unlike video podcasts, audio podcasts allow a listener to multi-task, so they could end up listening to you on the way to work on while they browse the web.
