You’ve probably noticed that Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine, was launched last year. Since then, I’ve received increased traffic from search engines. Bing is closing in on Google, but Google is still lonely at the top.
I’m not sure how much help Bing will be for me during 2010, but my guess is that it will increase even more. The reason for this, is that I have added my site to the Bing search engine.
That’s important, and it only takes a few minutes of your time.
This is how you do it:
Go here: http://www.bing.com/webmaster/WebmasterAddSitesPage.aspx
Now, log in to with your Windows Live id. That’s the same as your msn username and password.
Fill in your web address, your sitemap url and your email.
The next step is to authenticate your ownership of your website. You can either download an xml verification file and upload it to the root folder of your website, or you can add the authentication code to the section of your website.
By the way, I downloaded the xml file to the root folder.
If you don’t want to add your sitemap to Bing, you can add your website at the following url:
Adding your website here, will add it to the Bing approval queue. It might take a while before it will get approved though.
