Hours wasted on the Net

Thoughts

Today I am going to tell you about how I use my time on the Net, that is how much time I use and how to use it wisely.

When I first started with Internet marketing, during the summer of 2000, I used many hours every single day on my computer. I was surfing for great offers, sending e-mails, posting to FFAs and a lot more. Spending so many hours on the Net did not end before almost three years later. I came to realize that I had to use my time wisely. I had to be more effective.

Today I spend maybe two hours on the Internet daily. One hour in the morning, just after breakfast and one hour before I go to bed. Well, that’s my goal, sometimes I spend a little more time. But what’s different is that I spend my time wisely. The secret: know what you are going to do before you do it!

Set yourself a goal on how many hours you think you can afford to spend on the Net a day. You should also have time for your family, friends, read books, watch or participate in sports and so many other things.

My first goal was to cut my time on the Net down to 4 hours a day (yes I did spend a lot of time), then to 3 hours and finally to 2 hours. I love what I do, so I am not sure if I am going to cut more of my time on the Net.

Earlier I thought that it was impossible to have time for everything I had to do on the Net in only a few hours a day. The solution is as written above, if you spend your time wisely, then it’s no problem at all.

So, how do I spend my time?

Every evening, just before I go to bed, I write down the six most important things that I have to do the next day. I say have to, but I really mean want to. For me it’s very important to do things related to marketing my business online every single day, I have to do this to be successful. You can write down more or fewer things than six. But you should write down what you are going to do before you turn on your computer.

I write the six in cronological order, the most important as number one, the least important as number six. In the morning I start by doing number one, then number two and so on.

If I don’t finish the six, I transfer the things that I didn’t finish on the list to the list for the day after. If I finished five of the six, I only have to come up with five new things to do for the next day.

I never skip to the next number on the list, I always follow the list’s numbers, and I always have six numbers.

I never write down that I should check my e-mail or reply to the messages received. I do that in the morning and at the evening, it just comes natural. I have six things to do every single day (not included checking my e-mail and replying to e-mail received).

It is very important to answer all your e-mail within the same day. If you do that, then people will know that you are serious and that you appreciate people writing you.

In sum: write down what you are going to do the following day, follow your own directions whenever you are on the Net. The problem with most people doing Internet marketing, is that they don’t know what they are going to do when they turn on their computer. They often spend an hour before doing anything that is really useful. Know what to do before you do it!
