Get your Advertisements on hands with Handvertising

October 24, 2007

Thoughts

Do you remember the post I did about advertising on feet? Well, it seems that this new company got a better idea. They are placing your advertisement on a place where people actually can see them, well, that is if you are not living in Norway and it`s winter.

This idea is both creative and interesting. I think Handvertising USA can attract a lot of attention from the media, and maybe from advertisers as well.

But I got a few questions;

  • if you want a major marketing campaign, will enough people wear the ads?
  • How long will it be on their skin before it washes off?
  • How will the company know if the client is still wearing the ad after day 2?

It’s a fact that this is interesting, and if I was going to use handvertising in a campaign I would want to know what kind of people would want to wear an advertisement on their hands? Because I might not want all kinds of people associated with my brand (I am not really sure about that though).

… and if I wanted to earn money by letting Handvertising USA use my hands, what kind of products would I allow? I bet that a lot of people would want ads for a company or a product that they are a fan of, I bet there would be no problem to get people to wear ads for Apple on their skin, but some companies might have problems recruiting enough people. Or maybe if they pay enough, people wouldn’t care?

By wearing an ad on your hand you could get other benefits other than money. According to CEO Mike Brown of Handvertising USA “venues are offering special prices on drinks if the customer has a particular Handvertising stamp. People are requesting particular stamps because they want to fit in and they want the drink special.”

I am looking forward to the future of Handvertising USA, it sure got potential of being something big, but I don’t think I will be wearing one of their ads. My skin is way too valuable for that :-)
