I wrote about this earlier, but I just had to write a few words about it again. I just watched France beat Portugal in the semi finals and I thought about all the various advertisements I have seen the past week. And by the way, I was in Gothenburg (Sweden) during the weekend and there´s where I saw most of them.
What I am talking about is advertisments related to the FIFA World Cup, but at the same time not related to it.
Do you know what I mean?
Let me explain. Many companies use famous events to promote their products and services, products and services not related to the famous event at all. But by relating their products or services to a famous event, they might sell a lot more of it.
In Gothenburg I saw two things, and I saw them everywhere. An incredible cheap and tasty “World Cup Meal”, yes like the burger menu at McDonalds (but I can´t remember the name of the meal), and a 2 for 1 drink at every pub in Gothenburg. World Cup special, buy 1 beer and get 2 (something like that).
It´s not only the big screen TV you just need to have to watch the World Cup or the couch that will make your World Cup so incredible comfortable. It seems like you can promote close to everything by relating it to the World Cup.
I haven´t tried yet, but I am sure that the World Cup would be a lot better if you drink Amigo Juice
