Running Contests To Generate Traffic

I have never tried running a contest before, so yesterday's contest was a new experience for me. I didn't do it because I was looking for extra traffic, but that's exactly what happened.

Let me start from the beginning.

Since I switched to Drupal, due to my week of misery, I have been looking for a new design. I had already ordered the design, and it was ready for Wordpress, but I didn't receive the version for Drupal.

Now, have been waiting for the new design for a while, but nothing happened. So, about a week ago, I decided to buy a professional template. It's called Galaxy from All Drupal Themes.

I'm very satisfied with the theme, even though it's not unique and I don't feel that it's entirely mine. I like the look and feel of it. All that I really need now is a logo.

I remember seeing a contest section at the discussion forums where I usually hang out. It's called Digital Point and it's a great place for marketers.

I visited the contest section yesterday and saw a lot of interesting contests where members had published some really fancy logos, banners, even sales pages, and everything was cheap and created in less than 48 hours.

I decided to give it a try.

I created a contest to get somebody to create my new logo. The contest will be on for 48 hours and the winner will earn $30. It's actually still on for a few more hours as I'm writing this.

So far, I have received a lot of really cool logos, and I have received a lot of extra traffic to my blog. All for only $30. The experience have been awesome, and it's still not over. I'll have a hard time figuring out who the winner will be. But that's going to happen tomorrow.

To me, running a contest on a discussion forum is an awesome experience. It's my first time, but it will definitely not be the last.
