The 50 Most Important People on the Web

I have just viewed the list of the 50 most important people on the web and there was only one big surprise for me. Well, it might be others as well, but there were a few people I have never heard of before. So I can´t really say that them being on the list is a surprise or not.

The surprise to me was that Jon Lech Johansen (the famous Norwegian hacker) was there. He has become rather famous, but I wouldn´t have guessed that he was on the list and he was at number 18. By the way, this is his blog if you are interested. He has done some incredible work and he is only 24 :-)

I really like PayPal’s Business Pro account. PayPal API, Virtual Terminal, PayPal Debit Card and everything else PayPal offers for $20/mo. Hard to beat the fees.

Some folks don’t like PayPal, but I’ve, personally, never had a problem and I’ve run my entire business through PayPal for seven years. People do not have to have a PayPal account to pay you. That’s one of the major misunderstandings about PayPal.

A number of my clients use Authorize.net. Very stable and secure. Fees a bit high, in my opinion.

Remember that other than monthly fees, you need to look at how much the payment processor takes per transaction – percentage and other fees. Some are quite high.

I’ve also worked with international clients who use WorldPay. Another good service.

    Thanks for your comment Dawud.

I don’t have the business pro account yet, not sure if I need it before I start earning good money or not. But I am more confident now that Paypal is the way to go.

I have been using e-gold in the past, and the merchant.com also seems very interesting. I think that it might be important to go with only one payment processor, like what Dawud is saying, but I am not sure.

I see that some of the top marketers use several.

I would take a look at PaySimple, They do require a setup fee, but trust me, it’s worth it in the long run—both for the amount of functionality and for savings down the line. Depending on which system you’re looking at, Paypal has confusing pricing and a lot of weird hidden fees. A good payment processing system shouldn’t be where you skimp. There’s a way to find a system that’s affordable and will really work with you in the long run.
