A Great Lie can also be Great Marketing

I discovered a different kind of blog yesterday. Sometimes when I visit a new blog, I stop and stare, and I find myself thinking about what I am actually staring at. This doesn't happen often, usually I understand what the blog is all about in a few seconds, then I move on or I find it interesting and start to read some of the posts, and maybe I end up subscribing to the RSS feed.
Now, the blog I discovered yesterday was the blog that I stopped and stared at, but I kept staring for a few minutes (it felt like several minutes). I wasn't sure if the guy behind the blog was kidding, or what it was all about. Then I had to read some of the posts, and I had to read about the blog and the contact information and more.
He had a way with words that took me by surprise and I just wanted to read more.
I am not sure if the blog is any good, if I can learn something from it or not. But I liked his sense of humor. To me, this guy is hilarious. It's obvious that he is kidding, and that's why I just wanted to keep reading. I am not talking about his posts, but the blog and general information. I haven't read enough posts to know if he is this way all the time or not.
We can all learn something from this blog. I believe that a great lie can also be great marketing.
If you take a look at the sidebar at DeanHunt.com, you can see that he got more subscribers through FeedBurner than most of the professional bloggers I know of, and if you want him to review your blog, well, you might want to think again.
I am not sure if I am calling him a lier or not, because it's obvious that the FeedBurner badge is false. A lier or not, I think what he is doing is great marketing, and he is getting a lot of visitors this way. His Alexa stats is at the moment 91,921, obviously he is doing something right.
By providing the incredible FeedBurner stats and the interesting review me badge, he got my attention. I stopped, I stared and I am now subscribing to his RSS Feed.
