I believe that using Twitter is like attending a party, but it doesn’t mean that you have to be at the party all night long. I’m at the party for 10 minutes, that’s all, and I’m all alone.
You need to understand that this is not part of my 1 hour a day blog traffic technique, because I use Twitter for a different reason. I use it to build a network, and to meet interesting people, and to build trust. But, it also sends me traffic, good quality traffic.
I’m doing the following:
- One batch
- Schedule my tweets
- I tweet my blog posts
- Reply to all
- Personal tweets
I use it once, for ten minutes. That’s all. I focus on Twitter, and only Twitter, for 10 minutes. I do everything I need to do, then, and only then. And I do it every single day.
Schedule my tweets
I schedule all of my tweets. I’m using HootSuite, an awesome twitter client. I schedule everything, because I live in Norway and it’s a time difference between me and almost all of my followers. And because when I schedule, I send my tweets throughout the day and more people will see them in their timeline.
I tweet my blog posts
Whenever I write a new blog post, I send them to twitter. I never publish more than one blog post a day. I usually publish at 7 am, and that’s when it all happens.
I reply to all
When I get a question, I write a reply. I always do.
I try to publish at least 3 retweets every single day. This is about helping, and spreading awesome content.
I try to publish at least 3 personal tweets. I usually send questions, because I have all sorts of questions. And I relate everything (or at least most of the stuff I write about) to marketing.
The most important thing to remember
It’s not about traffic, it never is.
I believe that it’s not about time or quantity either. It’s not about how many hours you are using it, and how many tweets you send. It’s about quality content. If you use it for 10 minutes a day or 10 hours a day, it’s still about one thing, and that’s the content.
Content brings traffic, that’s it. And high quality content is how we get more twitter followers.
But remember, I’m not using it to connect with my friends.
What do you think? Is 10 minutes enough?
